Art History with a Twist: Art & Identity: The Shape-Shifters

Artist and art historian Marcy B. Freedman returns to Hudson Valley MOCA to present three new lectures that focus on the ways in which art confronts human behavior.

In the 20th and 21st Century, many important artists have forged career grounded in the exploration of roles, stereotypes, and other categories used to identify oneself or to assign labels to others. From Marcel Duchamp and Adrian Piper, to Cindy Sherman to Kalup Linzy, these bold image-makers force us to confront the ways in which we are affected by societal norms and expectations.
