Learn the designs and historical significance of the traditional Ukrainian craft of pysanky before jumping in and designing your own. Through a process popularized across eastern Europe, layer beeswax and dyes over an egg shell to finish with an intricately decorated treasure.

Students should wear something they don’t mind getting dirty and bring an egg carton to take home their final product. This class is recommended for ages 12 and up. No experience necessary!

About the Instructor:
Jennifer Santa Maria has taught Ukrainian egg decorating and techniques in a variety of settings to a wide audience, from children to seniors. She has instructed several groups and held demonstrations at the Belmar Arts Council, Thompson Park’s Creative Arts Center, Fort Monmouth Rec Center, Colorest Art Supply in Lincroft, Jerry’s Artist Outlet in West Orange NJ, several Ocean County Libraries, Oakwood High School, Cowerks in Asbury Park, a teacher’s retreat in Hampton, New Hampshire and at the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors in Wappingers Falls, NY.
