Artist Statement:
Stotter and Miller met when their kids entered kindergarten together. Both women have worked as artists and as friends to advocate for the transcendent power of love and art to open hearts.
About Jonette O’Kelley Miller:
I’m currently guest editing an issue of the arts quarterly the International Review of African American Art (IRAAA), scheduled for publication later this year. My theme is “The Evolving Imagery of the Black Woman.” As a performer, you could say I’m a ‘has- been.’ I ‘has-been’ an actress-dancer, working both on- and off-Broadway including Joseph Papp’s Public Theatre in Spell #7, and in both the Broadway production and National Tour of For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf. Most recent- ly, I appeared in Karen E. Gersh’s Human-i-tee Tales and the Sugar Loaf Performing Art Center’s “Ten-Minute Plays.”
